Sustainable EV charging installed at Cambridge Science Park

 
The Cambridge Science Park has made another step in its journey towards net zero carbon by installing new electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
 
For those members who have no viable alternative to driving, this deployment is aimed at helping them transition to electric vehicles.

The below-ground infrastructure for 18 charging points was installed during the project’s first phase, with 12 initial charging points being activated while demand is monitored.

The deployment is Cambridge’s first installation of Connected Kerb’s technology and provides reliable EV charging for both members and people visiting the Park.

Many members of our team travel across the country in EV's for our regular catch-ups and it's great they are now able to head home from the Science Park with their cars fully charged."

Connected Kerb has won multiple innovation and sustainability awards for its unique design, with each charging point being made from high volumes of recycled materials, including plastic and vehicle tyres.

The technology, which connects to data as well as power, also provides a platform for smart city innovations, including Internet of Things (IoT) technologies.

Cambridge Science Park and Connected Kerb are working together to develop wider scale expansion plans as part of Phase 2 of the project with the ultimate ambition of having at least 50% of all the parking spaces on the Park as charging points.
